Grace Scarlet

What happens when a young artist can move effortlessly between bold contemporary abstraction and the timeless beauty of the Hudson River School tradition?

At just 18 years old, Grace Scarlet has already built a remarkable artistic career rooted in both fearless creativity and classical technique. Working from her studios in New London, NH and Woodstock, VT, Grace has developed a distinctive visual voice that blends vibrant modern expression with the atmospheric grandeur of historic American landscape painting.

Grace’s artistic journey began at the extraordinary age of three, and by twelve she was already creating emotionally charged abstract paintings that captured public attention for their bold color, energy, and spontaneity. Her early work was featured on New Hampshire Chronicle, introducing audiences to a young artist whose instinctive creativity and emotional depth stood far beyond her years.

Like many other prominent artists, Grace approaches her work through a deeply multidisciplinary lens. One side of her practice embraces luminous color, movement, and expressive abstraction, while another is grounded in the rich traditions of nineteenth-century American landscape painting. Over the past several years, she has immersed herself in the study of the Hudson River School, drawing inspiration from masters such as Thomas Cole and Albert Bierstadt. Their reverence for nature, light, and atmosphere continues to shape her landscape work today.

Grace further refined her classical technique during two years of study under prominent New England landscape painter Ron Brown, learning traditional methods passed down through generations of artists. This mentorship strengthened her ability to capture mood, luminosity, and the quiet wonder of the natural world.
